In his annual speech to the Russian Security Service, the FSB, President Valdimir Putin has claimed that they had detected more than six hundred enemy spies last year. He said that “for obvious reasons” he would not go into details, but he claimed that 126 members of diplomatic missions and NGOs, together with 465 “others” had been exposed as enemy agents. This does not seem to be borne out by the figures for the number of people brought to trial for treason or expelled as persona non grata in the past year.
Of course, if this was true then the FSB must be a lot more effective than the bumbling Salisbury assassins of the GRU.
