The May/June issue of the influential magazine, Foreign Affairs, contains an insightful essay by Amy Zegart and former CIA Deputy Director, Michael Morell. In essence it argues that the intelligence game has changed completely in the 21st Century. Intelligence gathering has never been easier and almost every nation can now engage in it, even by just using open sources. The challenge, they argue, lies not in gathering intelligence, but in processing it. In some senses this is nothing new, but the piece is detailed and well-argued. It is well worth a look if you have the time.
