9 May: The US Federal Communications Commission has banned Chinese tech company China Mobile USA from operating in the US market citing concerns that it would raise significant national security and law enforcement risks. China Mobile is the world’s largest mobile operator and has been trying to enter the US market since 2011.
The ban is an indication that the US-China tech war concerns far more than just Huawei. Last year Chinese company ZTE faced a similar ban on access to US markets.
