Another excellent article on Bruce Schneier’s website “Schneier on Security.” The article concerns influence operations and how they might be combated. We have discussed influence operations elsewhere on this site (see our NSFAQ section). With allegations of interference in elections, opinion polls and political appointments, these operations are becoming a key tool in the armoury of intelligence services. Combating their effect is a complicated business: borrowing a term from cyber security, this is known as a “kill chain.” Schneier skilfully picks his way through the defensive options.
