On 6 August an unidentified male appeared at Gothenberg District Court charged with “unauthorised dealing in secret information of great importance to the security of Sweden.” There were thirty six counts of photographing or mapping defence critical facilities and two counts of sharing such intelligence with another individual (so far unidentified, but believed to be a foreign intelligence source). The period covered by the charges was April 2013 to December 2017.
There are many unanswered questions at the present time including: why are the charges so old? The Swedish Security Service is leading on the case, but releasing no further details at this time.
